The QDP is a One Of A Kind Experience!
We print each of our shirts one at a time by hand on our “Quick and Dirty” press, inking each block before placing it onto the shirt and rolling it through. Because of this method, each shirt printed is only ever similar, never identical. Each one is unique piece of art in a world of mass production.
Our Press Was Built Out of Necessity, With Grit and Determination!
After leaving school with a great love for printmaking, the realization that we were losing our access to all the needed equipment was devastating. Without it, there was a good chance the business could come to a screeching halt. Because of that, plans were quickly drawn up for a cheap, but usable, replacement and that design was immediately slapped together with scrap materials found around the house. With a lot of trial and error and elbow grease, we managed to create a mobile printing press that could handle exactly what we needed.
Why do we do it the way we do?
What drives us to do what we do is a creative passion and deep down love for the printmaking craft. Many graphic t-shirts today are created by screen printing the image, but we find that it takes the uniqueness out of the whole process. Relief block printing is much more tactile and involved to give you a better connection to the work; from idea, to production, and finally to you!
